Bouzy Bag

White:

Nortico Alvarinho

Nortico is from Monçao and Melgaço the best Alvarinho growing area in Portugal on the norther border with Spain’s Galicia province. Because of the phenomenal growing region and the winemaker’s unique take on producing high quality wines this Alvarinho will be the perfect refreshing wine with crisp acidity and wonderful grapefruit notes.

Red:

Viña Maipo Carménère

This Carmenere surprises with its purple tones and lush aromas of plum, black currant, chocolate and hints of coffee. A wonderfully soft red to pair well with red meat, pasta and pork this wine will not disappoint.

Alternate Red:

Villa Pillo 'Cingalino' Super Tuscan

With a Merlot base, this wine is reminiscent of the complex and soft French merlots. Thanks to the particular attention of the blend, this wine has a medium dark color with vibrant flavor and aromas. Wonderfully vibrant like most Tuscan wines this bottle can be enjoyed on its own or with grilled meats.

The somm's box

White:

St. Innocent 'Freedom Hill' Pinot Blanc

Grown on the slopes of Freedom Hill vineyard in Willamette valley this Pinot Blanc offers itself to be a perfect pairing for shellfish and other seafood delights. The 2014 Pinot Blanc has lush aromas of fresh cut apples, pears, nutmeg, peach skin and melon. This wine is immediately bright on your palate with ripe peach, pear tart, allspice and hints of hazelnut. While filling your entire mouth with fruit and spice, it is especially rich over your tongue refreshing your palate.

Hopler Pinot Blanc

In comparison to the New World style of Pinot Blanc this Austrian grown wine is a wonderful example of this particular varietal with a more fruit forward profile from winemaker Christof Hopler. This 2013 vintage was fermented in stainless steel tanks allowing the aromas of ripe lychee and pineapple to come forward. The palate does not disappoint either with a range of tropical fruit notes that will pair perfectly with many Asian dishes as well as many white meats.

Reds:

Clos du Gilroy Grenache

From the creative minds at Bonny Doon vineyards comes the Clos de Gilroy Grenahce. Blended with a small amount of Mourvedre and Syrah to add complexity, Clos du Gilroy is sourced from Bonny Doon's four central coast vineyards. Hand-sorted fruit is gently destemmed and cold-soaked to enhance flavor and color extraction, producing an incredibly pretty Grenache - spicy, pepper, & floral.  Notes of bing cherry, red currants, and plum, this is a soft wine that would pair perfectly with peppered ahi tuna steak!

Domaine Rimbert 'Saint-Chinian' Grenache Blend

Jean-Marie Rimbert was a native of Provence before arriving in the Languedoc region of southwestern France twenty-five years ago where he organically farms a diverse set of vineyards including some of the highest elevation vineyards in all of the St. Chinian AOC.  Les Travers de Marceau is from vines ranging from 10 - 60 years in age on Schist soils.  This blend of Mourvedre, Syrah, Carignan, and Cinsault is packed with aromas and flavors of crushed red berries, plum, blueberry and leather backed by a silky minerality and a deft touch of acidity.  A perfect pairing for grilled meats, aged cheese, and hearty stews this winter.

Notary Public Cabernet Sauvignon

Notary Public wines was created with a desire to explore the diversity and potential within Santa Barbara County as a wine growing region.  At Notary Public, the focus is on Cabernet Sauvignon and Chenin Blanc.  The Happy Canyon of Santa Barbara AVA lies at the warmer, eastern end of the Santa Ynez Valley. The combination of rocky, mineral-rich soil and a great temperature swing between day and night yield a wine with ripe flavors, textured tannins and fresh acidity. Balanced, with 18-months of oak-barrel aging, this Cabernet expresses dark red fruit notes with a wonderfully smooth finish.

Tenuta San Guido 'Le Difese' Super Tuscan

Fruit for Le Difese is selected from Tenuta San Guido estate's younger vines.  A famed, second label to Sassicai, Le Difese is a blend of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% that is a mini Super Tuscan benchmark at an affordable price.  Juicy, soft, & fresh, this versatile and charming wine shows great richness on the palate, yet is very easy to drink!  Pair it with a grilled steak salad, hamburgers, or other casual weekday beef dishes.
